Regardless of whether or not you have played Chrono Trigger before, the DS remake is an absolute must-own for any RPG fan and is easily one of the year’s best releases.
Chrono Trigger is a masterclass in RPG design, its execution so far beyond the quality and poise of contemporary JRPGs it's embarrassing. It represents the work of a company at the very top of its field, a team of designers so confident with the rules that they helped establish that they felt free to subvert and invert them to glorious effect.
Simplesmente Perfeito, não consigo descrever em palavras o quão bom é Chrono Trigger.
O GAME NEM PRECISA DE GRIND CARA, VOCÊ PODE ZERAR SEM NEM PRECISAR DESTA MERDA!
Chrono Trigger hasn't lost its magic in 2009. The combat system is unique and effective, the story and its characters impressive and even the looks and sound of the game are more than you could wish for. It the end it was worth waiting for a European version.
I understand why this game would appeal to so many, but after 3 hours, I was ultimately bored with it. If you're REALLY into traditional RPGs, this will probably be worth visiting.
It's a fun, good game game and I'd recommend it to any JRPG fan, but there are some issues that a lot of people overlook. Mainly in character development or should I say lack of. Additionally the Story has some very weak points and is poorly executed in certain parts. Gameplay is pretty solid though, Decent battle system, great soundtrack(although there are a few weak tracks but overall its great) A game well worth playing!
The first part of this game seems amazing, like a 10/10, one of the best games you've ever played. It then becomes and abrasive boring slow slog with cheap tactics. Oh wow, every enemy automatically takes half my health. Oh this enemy can kill me in two hits. Oh I used the wrong spell I guess cause I just healed it, now my entire party is dead and I have to redo those 5 forced battles before this again. Oh look I finally made it to the boss this will be exciting, .......oh wow they are literally reusing the same boss I just faced 15 minutes ago. God this is so lazily made. It isn't one of the best games of all time, or rpgs, or jrpgs, it isn't the best of anything.
I love the characters and the charm it shows at first, and that makes it all the worse that this game falls off such an incredibly steep cliff that you never saw coming.
"You can take both a frog and robot, designed by Akira Toriyama, through a prehistoric land! BEST GAME EVER!"
Because I just love when my cavegirl Ayla from the year 65,000,000 BC emerges into the year 2300 A.D. and doesn't even mention the mechs and robots walking around.
Or how Marle is only important during the first 1 hour of gameplay before her character becomes void of all meaning.
And how about those sudden spikes in difficulty? One moment it's smooth sailing and the next you're facing a boss who deals 180 HP of damage every round. But hey, I'm a big kid. I can handle it, babe. I just simply choose not to, and play a more balanced and better designed game.
