No two ways about it: if you own a 3DS, this Zelda is a must. It’s an intelligent and entertaining action game, brimming with fresh ideas and fascinating worlds. [Issue#237]
I don't know why this isn't higher, this game is GREAT. The mechanics are fun, and I really liked the dark mirror of Hyrule, that being Lorule. The story was fun, and being like the predecessor, A Link To The Past, it had all of the classics bosses in 3D, which I think was pretty good, and the puzzles had bit of a challenge, like the one where you had to blow up a few boulders with the Big Bomb Flower. This might be one of the best Legend Of Zelda games I have played, and it was definitely better than the original game on the SNES
A Link Between Worlds is a delightful adventure that hits every high note a 2D Zelda game has ever produced while creating many new hallmarks of its own.
A Link Between Worlds boasts excellent characterisation and spacial design. Even a too-shallow difficulty curve can't hold this long awaited entry back.
A Link between words is a delightful trap - it starts beautifully revamping the A Link to The Past IP, then it shocks you with some lovely twists and saga firsts. It's a "back to the roots to look to the future" vibe which is hard to resist.
Thanks to its new gimmicks, wonderful 3D-effect and fantastic soundtrack The Legend of Zelda: A Link between Worlds is a top-title and must own-game for the Nintendo 3DS.
A Link Between World's main problem at the end of the day is a complete lack of heart. There's no defining moment, no memorable villains or characters, and no truly "new" items that make their mark on the series. It's certainly playable in every sense of the word, but I didn't feel the magic I had felt so many times before.
To be honest it is quite good game but in my opinion very overrated... Gameplay is getting more interesting after the half of the game and the ending is satisfying. But one new mechanic is not enough to keep game fresh after few years. It is just simple not a game for more than 7... Nowhere near to 10...
This game is amazing and, like Link to the Past, kept me smiling the whole way through except for a certain Moldorm. This game is a lot easier than Link to the Past and, in my opinion at least, has a better story than that game. Link between worlds is better in some aspects such as the story but worse in aspects such as the dungeon items. In Link Between Worlds you have to buy them or rent them from Ravio whereas in Link to the Past you just collect them in the dungeons or in the overworld which seems more classic Zelda than Link Between Worlds. It is a must play for all Zelda and puzzle game fans though so I’d definitely recommend it
The Story is 30 seconds long, you can Rent all the items, dungeon mechanic is really cheap, honestly, this is a zelda that will not be remembered in a few years, based on a Link To the past, making it a watered down version of it,
I wasn't too excited about playing it in the first place since the Zelda series has begun to stagnate a bit, the same formula with not much to spice it up. But I was interested since it said it was a Link To The Past sequel with the same old school formula, and I got the game with my 3DS, so why not?
Don't get me wrong, the Legend of Zelda is still "fun" but not as fun as, say, Majora's Mask or any of the other stand out games. As said before, it's become obvious that the series has begun to stagnate and here's why:
- A complete lack of original story telling ideas. Lorule? Hyrule? Seriously? Haven't we gone through the whole Light/Dark schtick enough, Nintendo?
- The whole "rent" equipment stuff was an obvious attempt at trying to take a fresh, unique take on dungeon crawling in the Zelda series....... except it doesn't work. It completely derails any sense of satisfaction for finishing dungeons. I really can't figure out if it was a desperate "But we've done everything!" move or they couldn't figure something out, asked the janitor passing by for advice, shrugged and slapped it in there.
- The map from Link to the Past was bold-facedly ripped. Has nothing truly changed in 300 years?
- The difficulty curb is pathetic. Any Zelda veteran worth their salt could breeze through the dungeons and abuse the rental system. If you've beaten any Zelda game, this is on permanent baby mode. But hey, once you beat the game, why not try Hero mode where the enemies kill you in 1-2 hits? What do you mean finishing a dungeon is now impossible?
Now with that out of the way, the characters are pretty vivid and full of personality. It is still somewhat immersive, and the nostalgic feel was great. It's definitely one of the better Nintendo releases riding on its coat tails of former glory. But will you be clutching your 3DS at the end, choking back tears like in Link to the Past or Link's Awakening? Not likely. (On the upside though, you'll also never throw your 3DS against a wall for a dungeon being just way too hard, so there's that.)
It's great for someone new to the series and for the younger crowd. If you've been way into the Zelda series since its hey day, I'd suggest passing it up.
SummaryThe Legend of Zelda: A Link Between Worlds is a new game with a new storyline set in world of the Super NES classic The Legend of Zelda: A Link to the Past.
