Life is Strange 2 might be a different story, with different characters on a different location: other than that this has the same feel as the first series. Amazing.
This is an excellent start for the second season of a game with big shoes to fill. We may have lost Telltale Games forever, but you can dry your tears with Dontnod’s big-hearted adventure of a story game.
There are aspects that can definitely use some more fleshing out in future episodes, but the new season feels like it’s on its way to potentially achieving the same level of greatness as its predecessor.
Dontnod proves again they are able to create great stories with characters we care about, but this time the experience is much more lineal, decisions don’t seem to matter that much, and the lack of special powers makes the gameplay less diverse and exciting.
Episode 1: Roads sets Life is Strange 2 up for potentially great things, but the entertaining moments are extremely fleeting in what is clearly intended to be an emotionally-driven adventure that works to set the tone for what is to come, with particular value placed on the story of brotherhood. The supernatural element at play as the main plot device is interesting, but it again only works to serve as a teaser for what is lying further down the road for the brothers. Not as gripping as season one, but this short episode does its job.
It's hard to write a review about this game without spoilers, but here goes. While the first episode seems shorter than lis 1's first episode, that's only because it's way more fluid in it's narrative. (You won't waste hours looking at the same pointless Rachel poster.) The game does dive into the political side of America, the ugly side, and it does it well. Let's be honest. We play the lis games for the feels,(and the cool atmosphere/music) and you will have them in the first episode. The best part is that during the entire time I'm was playing, I never once wished it was Max and Chloe on the screen. That speaks volumes about what dontnod has accomplished.
EPISODE 1:
the episode escalated really quick i know that that is the point of the story but still it felt to quick i didnt get that attached to the characters that much because the story just started kinda weak i kinda dig the whole brothers trying to survive gig also this game has a new special power it introduces but i wont spoil it plus you meet someone that is in my opinion one of the most nicest guys i ever met in a video game and you will find out why
IN CONCLUSION - the episode escalated things to quick but the chill mood kinda **** you slowly back into the universe of life is strange i give this episode a 7.5 out of ten
Great free teaser of what this game offers, still varies too much from the original LIS essence.
This game has one of those stunning ambiences that are really present in the series, and is graphically and artistically awesome, still I think the Episode 1 isn't the best way of advertising/encouranging people to play this game. It leaves a lot of questions opened but it doesn't make you feel like you really wanna know the answers. The lack of introduction really makes this Episode confusing, and even more if you weren't a fan of LIS before playing this game. Honestly, I do have to admit that this was the game that got me into the Life Is Strange series, but, playing a game that released previously than this as it is Life Is Strange, it really made me realize the downfall the games were having.
Really hope that the return of Max to the series in Life Is Strange: Double Exposure makes the saga return to its original feels.
Start off I'm am not from the US.
But this game is very political and tries to show the extreme cases that happen very rarely, with showing the far right and no other right wing thinking people. And then the left but Jo far left. Very much a political propoganda game, or at least episode 1, I will keep playing to see where it goes
As a latino their dialect is harsh on the ears. The plot is decent at best and there's a few camera and scene glitches that take you out of the mood. Game is nowhere near as good as the first series, poor rachel amber
