Crafting a thriller that is tense and taut, Álvarez truly understands what makes an Alien movie breathe, while also expanding on the mythology of the series.
Bloated by two or three elements too many, it isn't a "perfect organism", to use the phrase coined by Ian Holm's android character in Alien, but it's as close to perfect as any entry in the series since Aliens in 1986.

The movie doesn’t quite stick the landing, piling on while lingering at the gate for an extra 10 minutes or so. The gore level may not be a shock to fans of Alvarez’s previous features, but for the casual franchise fan, well, it’s gory. But the best of Alien: Romulus reminds us that some franchises are more open to a variety of directorial approaches than others.
A final-act development lurches into overblown and slightly daffy extreme sicko horror, but there’s enough that works, especially in terms of sustained tension and big juicy frights, to give the xenomorph-hungry what they want.
If it hadn’t had someone of Álvarez’s care and attention at the helm, Romulus could certainly have been a lot worse.
Alien: Romulus is diverting enough, but it’s also instantly forgettable — something I don’t think I’ve ever said about any other Alien film, good or bad.
The foundational mistake came when someone said, “Hey, let’s make another ‘Alien’ movie.” Newsflash: The alien concept is dead. Leave it alone, and leave poor Ian Holm out of it.

In 1997, Jeunet's significant contribution to the saga was the idea of hybridizing Giger with a problematic motherhood. The Uruguayan Álvarez signs a teen reboot, an "Alien Resurrection" 2.0 for YA, TikTokers and Disney's target, plus a reference to bioengineering transhumanism. Useful if for introductory purposes, less as a substitute. "As for the title of the film, where a high-sounding 'Romulus' appears, apart from an effigy of the twins sùckled by the she-wolf and the fact that the space base is divided into two parts, the Romulus hemisphere and the Remus one, for the rest the reason is not clear. But perhaps the explanation is postponed to the next episode" (Daria Pomponio).

Painful to watch ! Is some kind of Alien for kids with poor dialogues and bad acting. Exemple: Andy(the sintetic) : "Forgive me... I've been nothing but a burden to you. Today, I can finally help. And you won't see me as a child anymore. " Of course - we know that Andy is an sintetic with obviously a good heart. This is the worst Alien in the series.

With fan service that's so unabashed that Deadpool & Wolverine can "eat their heart out" to, Alien: Romulus somehow becomes 2024's "most nostalgia bait" movie of the year. With its pointless, needless references and callbacks to the original film, this latest installment of the Alien franchise offers the flimsiest of **** has no other reason for existing other than being a cash grab and it can't even stand on it's own being that it relies so heavily on prior appreciation for the franchise.
