A ridiculous espionage romance that only Hitchcock could pull off, and that he does with ease.

It is obvious that Alfred Hitchcock, Ben Hecht and Ingrid Bergman form a team of motion-picture makers that should be publicly and heavily endowed. With Cary Grant as an additional asset, it is one of the most absorbing pictures of the year.
Alfred Hitchcock's Notorious is the most elegant expression of the master's visual style, just as Vertigo is the fullest expression of his obsessions.
Bergman is literally ravishing in what is probably her sexiest performance. Great trash, great fun.
Love is a dark, corroded obsession in Alfred Hitchcock’s Notorious, a black-velvet biocide brimming with notes of tabloid titillation, spy-versus-spy nonsense, and romance as rotten as a half-eaten Granny Smith left out in the summer sun.
Intelligent movie with a good agent story and interesting characters, where everyone is having a mask. Also the chemistry between Grant and Bergman is working. Hitchcock quality.

This film fell short for me. Lauded as a masterful thriller it plays like a scattered and rushed love story. The characters are bare,the dialogue disengaging with the cinematography being rather forgetful. Furthermore the whole film felt really long ,I was incredibly bored and found no investment in the story. I found the performances quite flat but did appreciate the endings dark ambiguity.
