My Time at Sandrock is everything I wanted from a sequel to My Time At Portia. The time you spend in this game is well worth it, so don’t sleep on this gem.
But… if you are looking for a reasonably easy going, not overly violent (hey there are chickens that fire rockets at you… it’s not totally peaceful), life/building sim, then My Time At Sandrock is a decent option… you can certainly sink a number of hours into it if you get into it.
I'm a big fan of the My Time- series and the developers. For me their narrative and art team are a treasure, delivering quality work since Portia.
Sandrock delivers some of the best quality of life features in farm sims that I've seen, such as not needing to carry objects with you to deliver them to quest NPCs or for crafting. Later in the main story you can automate a lot of the care for your farm as well. This alone is a time-saver that helps you focus on socializing and exploring.
Cons:
- I miss a Portia's mining feature in which you could reveal, though digging, massive robots and other interesting unique objects
- I skipped on a lot of house-building and house customization because the system felt a bit too click-intensive. sometimes, editing a wall returned all my decor to my chest, so that bothered me a bit as well
- I wish chests had even more automate sorting options, such as not having to manually set up one chest for food, another for building materials, another for relics, etc.
However, even with those things in mind I have more than 100 hours and completed the entire story, I recommend the My Time series to all farm sim fans. The NPCs have an incredible amount of lines and the world feels very lively. I can't wait for their new game, My Time at Evershine.
A good sequel that improves in meaningful ways an already nice game. If you like social activities games such Animal Crossing or Harvest Moon you can't go wrong with this.
It’s a game I could easily see myself winding down with during the evenings, ticking off my to-do list of tasks while wrapped up cosily. The music, the style, the brief thrill of finding rare components or clearing dungeons; it gives me the same feelings that Harvest Moon once did, but God damn, there’s a lot to be cracking on with at any given moment. With that in mind, I think it’s about time I return to Sandrock.
My Time at Sandrock is a cosy yet action-packed farming simulator that has you not only building up a dying town, but uncovering a conspiracy that threatens the quaint lives of the inhabitants. With every new update, the game has been getting stronger and stronger. And while admittedly there are some shortcomings with accessibility and glitches, My Time at Sandrock still manages to be a title fans of the farming sim will absolutely love.
Despite those rough edges, My Time At Sandrock is ultimately a wonderful and heartfelt game. There is an incredible story here about human nature, the environment, and the desire to right the wrongs of the past. Sandrock’s residents were charming, and I cared deeply about their lives, joys, and struggles. In that sense, I think my time in the desert was time well spent. With just a little polish, I think this one could become a masterpiece.
I played MTAP alot .. then Sandrock came along and i made 11 builders, I am in the tester group and this game is just really great. when i first started playing I was like no, i'm not going to get used to the different graphics, the town setup etc but over 1000 hours later all that proved me wrong. Its an amazing game, the npcs are funny, heartwarming they have a story to tell. And the bad boy of the town well he's just as loveable. It's a game well worth adding to your library if it's in your play style. Can't recommend it enough. Get it now and go on an adventure.
pathea is a scam my time at sandrock is a scam the game on Switch is unplayable. Crash is buggy and yet we pay the same price for the game as everyone else
I own the game on PC. he is extraordinary. unfortunately I have a friend who doesn't have a lot of money and only has the Switch version. She was happy to hear about the Christmas update but unfortunately she was disappointed that it wouldn't happen. I will never forget these tears. I have nothing against the developers but I have to put 0 because these tears really upset me
Only because Pathea can do better do I give1 star. I prefer to play handheld and Pathea always gives the worst work to the switch. Menu navigation is slow and painful, glitchy mechanics **** pay you well for this, Pathea. Wth?
