Since we took our first steps in Avalanche Studios' post-apocalypse, we have had a hard time putting the control aside. The combination of an open world, mutant freaks and super powers is too entertaining, actually far above our expectations. Along with the eminent control and the dynamic battles, it makes Rage 2 one of the year's most addictive titles to date.
I have to say that RAGE 2 is absolutely an improvement over its predecessor but there is still room for improvement. From a gameplay perspective, the combat is on point for both the in and out of car experiences. Specific landmarks within the world are a joy to experience, but it seems like a good portion of the open world suffers from being too lifeless and the plot suffers from being too inconsequential to the overall context of the game. RAGE 2 is nearly there, but the environments could have benefited from a bit of condensing to breathe a bit more variety and a little less wasteland into them. Oh and as a parting note, crank the difficulty up when you start the game to get the most out of the combat experiences.
In Rage 2, you move fast and kill faster. It's the synthesis between id Software's 2016 reboot of Doom and Avalanche Studios' Mad Max, bringing together some of the best ideas from both. Moment-to-moment play on foot is fantastic with each weapon and ability just opening up your options for destruction. Driving could be improved and it's a little on the shorter side, but Rage 2 is a damned good time.
Rage 2 could have been so much more. The gun action feels and looks awesome, but the world in which it all happens is just too flat and the story doesn't help either.
Rage 2's brilliant shooting fails to make up for its shortcomings everywhere else. Because even though there's fun to be had in the Wasteland, the shooting fails to keep me wanting more after not too many hours of gameplay. And when that happens, the lackluster story, the shallow characters and the repetitive mission systems all reveal what a bland experience this really is.
+ Mechanics, sandbox, the implementation of shooting and movements, a huge number of unlockable perks, skills and abilities, weapons, craft, replay value
+ Smart opponents: running, jumping, bouncing off walls, tumbling, dodging bullets, using various abilities and types of weapons, acting in groups and individually, trying to get around behind
+ A large, open post-apocalyptic world (absolutely seamless!) With various locations: scorched lands, deserts, swamp swamps, mountains, overgrown jungle, canyons, dungeons, sewers, cities, bunkers, caves, dumps
+ Awesome post-apocalypse atmosphere with powerful cyber punk influence. Gorgeous graphics and elaboration of the environment, and of course incredibly beautiful sky-boxes
+ Many authentic characters, both plot and random, that tell interesting stories and give tasks, traders, mechanics, informants, cyber surgeons
+ An interesting, but unpretentious main plot with non-linear quests (for 8-12 hours of play), plus a huge number of audio recordings and diaries found around the world that detail the ENT games
+ Extensive and detailed world building. Each part of the location, whether it is an abandoned factory, or a village, a building, or a settlement, a trading city or an underground laboratory, a research station or base - everything in the game is hand-made, well-designed and never repeats.
+ A lot of vehicles, cars, buggies, motorcycles, boats, flying hover-bikes, tanks, with unique weapons. The main car of the protagonist, with a talking AI, and opening perks and weapons.
+ A huge number of various action events at locations, there is always something to do (for 45-70 hours of the game): story missions, side missions, random events, secret missions, boss bases, lair with mutants, shelters, puzzles, contracts, elimination targets, constantly changing convoys, columns, races, arena with battles, searching for arks, tablets, fallen rangers, chests, filtering, meteorites, eco-spheres, balloons
+ Very beautiful graphics, changing the time of day, sound, open world without downloads (in general)
+ Cheat mode. After completing the game, you can have fun, including various gameplay modifiers on the battlefield.
+ Developers have already announced a monthly updated end-game content, as well as two story DLC.
+ "New game +" mode with each new passage increases the level of prestige and complexity
+ Iron Man mode (permanent death)
+ Complexity "Ultra-Nightmare"

If you are looking for some semblance of Fallout 4, S.T.A.L.K.E.R., or even Far Cry: New Dawn - pass by and don’t over-rank the game and developers. All the sandbox elements of the game are involved around one main and fundamental gameplay mechanics - SHOOTING, PERKOV and COMBO-ACTION, this is what the whole game has to do, and not something else. It is foolish to expect from this game that which it should not be by definition. If you like shooters (DooM, Quake, Bulletstorm, Painkiller, Crysis), as well as open sandbox worlds (Mad Max, Just Case 3, Red Faction Guerrilla, Mercenaries 2) - definitely for a purchase!
Pretty decent I just wish they stuck with the original games formula which was more story driven. The hate it got when it released wasn't deserved though especially in comparison to games like Cyberpunk 2077.
The game play is a lot of fun, and graphically well designed. It’s very nice on the eye, and the tiny little nitpick I have with the game is that the x and y axis are so sensitive! I had to turn them both to under 20% until I felt that I had good control over them both. But like I say, that’s a very minor nitpick. Aside from this, the game is very easy to pick up and play.
The story isn’t anything to complex, and the gameplay is a little to repetitive. It feels like a lovechild between Gears of War and Borderlands… and I will always pick Gears of War over anything. Again though, this takes nothing away from Rage 2, as there is definitely some fun to be had here.
Performance is bad, running the game above 60fps and 1080p gives problem. That out of the table, game itself is boring, it feels like a cheap Far Cry with some Doom stuff in it. After 2 hours there's nothing in the game that makes me want to come back.
Game just boring and short. Very short. There are only 5 quests and you can beat it under 6 hours, and there is nothing left to do. Every sidequests location is copy of previous one.
Yes, gunplay is nice, and pretty various, but honestly i used only two guns and never used special abilities on hard difficulty. Ofc you can use abolities but it's kind of pointless.
Besides of main quest it just a driving to point on map, shot, loot, repeat. But why someone wants to spend time on this boring routine? Game give no prize for exploring and looting, yes you get crafting materials, ability points etc, but you don't need non of these things to beat the game.
If Rage 2 was a linear shooter it be fine. But if we talking about open world, exploring game, for if so Rage 2 boring, pointless and doesn't worth time spending.
SummaryDive headfirst into a dystopian world devoid of society, law, and order. RAGE 2 brings together two studio powerhouses Avalanche Studios, masters of open world insanity, and id Software, the gods of the first-person shooter to deliver a carnival of carnage where you can go anywhere, shoot anything, and explode everything.
