It is possible to say that this is the best game of the Romance of the Three Kingdoms series so far. If you like strategy games, I strongly suggest you make a place for RotTK 8 Remake on your list of games to play.
Romance of the Three Kingdoms VIII Remake is a powerful update of a classic production, not more, not less. Sadly, mastering English is necessary to understand all its complex features.
The Romance of the Three Kingdoms series has been beloved for nearly 40 years, but it has now reached a point where a groundbreaking transformation is needed to attract more gamers. A remake of the 8th installment would be a suitable first step towards this transformation, creating a game that is both easier to play and more immersive.
Romance of the Three Kingdoms 8 Remake captures the essence of its predecessor but ultimately feels hollow. While it incorporates mechanics from other entries in the series and introduces new systems like relationships and historical narratives, these elements are overly simplified, seemingly catering to new players. As a result, the game loses much of its depth and enjoyment, leaving longtime fans wanting more from this classic.
Romance of the Three Kingdoms 8 Remake resurrects an old fan favorite title from the early 2000s. While it has a shiny new coat of paint and an engaging gameplay loop that’s sure to make long-time fans marvel, it’s nonetheless bogged down by incompetent AI-controlled allies, curious design decisions, and oversights when it comes to core mechanics.
Romance of the Three Kingdoms 8 Remake ultimately did a decent job of bringing back a classic series entry by including newer features from the more modern entries, although it’s still not enough to convert me into believing this to be the best one among the series entries with personal viewpoints. (Romance of the Three Kingdoms 10 still holds that dear spot for me.) But while the Tales event triggers are a highlight, a number of glaring issues in its localization make it rather difficult to recommend this game over the prior entries unless you can play the game in its original Japanese build.

I was extremely disappointed with this game. The combat is boring, and the progression system is nothing more than mindlessly clicking the mouse for repetitive and meaningless tasks. I didn't even have the motivation to finish the game. Compared to the enjoyment I had with Romance of the Three Kingdoms 14, this feels like an unfinished product.
