As a whole, Life & Death feels like it has more love and attention to detail than any DLC in recent memory. For those who are fans of occult gameplay, the breadth of afterlife features is spectacular, and even for those who aren’t huge fans of occult DLC, the additions regarding things like funerals and inheritances are very versatile. Arguably one of the very best Expansion Packs the current iteration of the franchise has ever seen, The Sims 4 Life & Death is so good it’s scary.
There’s secrets upon secrets in this expansion pack, and revealing them makes for a wonderfully scandalous, but entirely satisfying time. It’s appropriate that one of the new features in The Sims 4 Life and Death is rebirth, because that’s exactly what this expansion pack delivers.
All in all, this is an impressive expansion, and comfortably the best one in years. The cohesion between all of its ideas and features, as well as the strong execution of them, helps to metaphorically breathe new life into the game. There are things I could nitpick, but they're easy to forgive as this is the most engaged I've been playing the game in a long time.
If you like pretty gothic outfits, green fog-draped scenery, and a close relationship with death, the A la vie à la vie pack definitely has the potential to seduce you. We like the elegant scenery of Ravenwood, the selection of furniture and outfits, the reaper job that is the highlight of the pack, and the wish list that boosts the experience. Too bad some of the other additions seem so anecdotal and that life as a ghost is ultimately not that special.
